How to take care of your watch

The watch , accessory and life companion, allows us to keep an eye on every moment of our day. From the appointment to the time we leave work, from the minutes of running to do in the gym to the passing of the seconds if we are waiting for someone: today we will see together how to take care of your watch , to always have the right time in sight.

Taking care of your watch

Keep the right charge

It is important to try to keep your watches always working and active. It is not only a question of convenience, so as not to have to adjust the time every time you decide to wear them, but also of safeguarding the chronograph itself!

Many watches are wound automatically by the movement of the wrist, but every now and then it is good to do a manual winding. All you have to do is wind the watch manually, with a few rotations of the crown, the small button located on the side of the dial!

For the lazier ones, know that there are also watch boxes on the market, called rotors, created specifically for winding your wristwatch.

Be careful with the water

Unless you own a diving watch , be very careful with water and any liquids that may come into contact with your chronograph! Make sure your watch is water resistant before coming into contact with water.

If you have a diving watch, remember to rinse it with water and neutral soap after swimming in the sea, salt water could ruin it! Be careful, in any case, with dives and long swims: better to avoid!

Pay attention to the environment

Humidity and temperatures could ruin our wristwatch. Although today watches are created with top quality materials, resistant and cared for, it is good to avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures, below 0°C and above 50°C.
At these temperatures, metals could expand. Or, there could be a lack of proper lubrication, which is necessary to keep mechanical components functioning.

As with water, humidity could also cause some problems in the long run. In these cases, it is important to screw the watch crown tightly, to avoid dangerous infiltrations.

Finally, be careful of magnetic fields, as they could compromise the functioning of the chronograph.

Avoid accidental impacts

Even the most resistant of watches could be ruined by an accidental impact too great. Therefore, be careful of accidental falls and impacts. Even with sports watches, it is better to be a little careful when using them.

Review periodically

Last but not least, it is necessary to periodically check your watch. Taking the chronograph to your trusted jeweler allows us to always have its functioning checked, guaranteeing us a product that is always at the top!
