The beginning of the adventure

Fabrizio told me that Ferro Gioielli discovered and proposed pt950 platinum for the first time since the mid-90s, with a production related to the fashion of the period.

In those years, the experts at Ferro Gioielli produced accessories with a very futuristic design, with parts in polished platinum and parts in sandblasted platinum. They were very important collections that had an excellent response on the market, at that time divided mainly in the choice between white gold and yellow gold.

Platinum is very close to Fabrizio and the experts' idea of pure metal: it is a metal that has a natural original color, compared to white gold, which does not exist in nature. Furthermore, platinum allows diamonds to release the reflection and shine.

With the advent of the new century, Ferro Design created the jewel of 2000 , a limited edition product of only 20 pieces, designed specifically to celebrate the beginning of a new era.

A few years of break...

For many years, then, the proposal of platinum jewelry was suspended. The choice of goldsmiths and jewelers was spot on; platinum, in fact, did not fully satisfy the experts of Ferro Gioielli. Although it is a long-lasting and resistant metal, platinum turned out to be not very hard as far as mechanics are concerned. In short: it did not resist well to the small impacts that every jewel, if worn, undergoes daily in its life cycle.

A new life for platinum

It's been about 12 years since Ferro Design chose to put platinum aside. Yet, despite the distance from this unique metal, Ferro Gioielli has not strayed that far from it. In fact, together with the Arata company, led by Fabrizio's great friend Aldo, the Ferro family has bet on platinum and, with a patent studied with the Polytechnic of Milan, Arata has found a perfect formula to harden platinum. Today, platinum is the purest, most long-lasting and usable metal of all. Even more than gold.

Christmas 2020: a jewel full of magic

Platinum, with its ethereal white color, resistant and not very wearable, has once again become the perfect starting point for designing new jewelry. Ferro Design and Arata have in fact brought this metal back into fashion with a first collection, intended for women who want to wear a jewel with ease in their daily life. A necklace jewel with a light point has therefore been designed, to be combined with an earring and a ring. It is a young and ready-to-wear collection made entirely of platinum and natural white diamonds: a real show-stopper, perfect for every day but able to give that extra touch that can make the difference.
