The Birth of Marco Bicego: From Waste to Beauty

I always like to start from the history of brands, to fully understand their message. Marco Bicego 's past won me over, precisely because, since the very beginning, it has always chosen to enhance imperfection, making each jewel a unique piece.

The event

Marco Bicego, a family-run jeweler, was still working in his father's business when he saw a chain that had been rejected because it had a defect. The chain would have to be re-melted and reworked to eliminate the imperfection.
An everyday image, which can be seen who knows how many times in a jewelry manufacturing company... but not in Marco Bicego's laboratories!
That simple vision in fact made a spark fly in Marco's soul, and from that day on he decided to base all his work on imperfection.

Artworks made of gold

The story of this resourceful designer starts right here: from a discarded chain! From that day on, Marco Bicego chose to base his art on the tradition of the wrapped wire, also called spiral. Needless to say, even today, spiral jewels represent the best collections of Bicego, including Goa , Cairo, Masai and Marrakech, which have made the brand recognizable all over the world.
Imperfect and always different, the spiral is the symbol of this all-Italian brand, a tribute to craftsmanship and to the jewel, which is conceived as a true work of art.

A common thread that we like a lot: just as every jewel can be defined as a work of art for its uniqueness, then every woman who wears it can feel like one. A work of art, unique and perfect even with a few crooked brush strokes, reproducible but never the same and the same.

A new beauty

Marco Bicego has contributed to creating a new concept of irregular beauty, deliberately imperfect, unique and unrepeatable, through a thin 18-karat yellow gold wire that is engraved with the burin technique, which gives a satin effect, or wrapped in a spiral around a core also in gold. This is then destined to be modeled by the expert hands of Vicenza artisans, following the guitar string process, with a special twist performed by hand, which creates a soft and sinuous movement, similar to the sand dunes of the African desert, always ready to change and reflect the sunlight.
