Fancy cuts in diamonds

We talked about diamonds , the 4 Cs , how to cut a diamond... and today we'll look at fancy diamond cuts together.
Between curious names and more classic shapes, surely each of us will find the one that represents us the most. Who knows if we will be able to guess together which is Fabrizio Ferro's favorite fantasy cut... let's try! Maybe we will get it right.

Fancy cuts in diamonds

Marquise or shuttle

The marquise cut features an elongated diamond at both ends. Similar in shape to a mouth, it takes its name from the Marquise de Pompadour , for whom the Sun King had a diamond cut in the shape of her lips. Although it loses a little light near the tips, the Marquise cut is truly original, seductive and perfect for a diamond set in a romantic gift.

Drop or Pendeloque

With a beautiful shape similar to that of a drop of water, the Pendoleque cut is truly one of the most appreciated ever. The most rounded part of the diamond with this cut allows the light to filter inside, making it brilliant and truly beautiful to look at. A very classic cut and always appreciated, especially for a pendant of great value.

Baguette

Rectangular and similar in shape to the classic French baguette (yes, the bread shape!), the diamond with this cut is usually used as a contour stone. Although it has less value, therefore, it is truly beautiful to admire next to other diamonds or as a crown for other precious stones.

Trapeze

There is certainly no need to describe this classic geometric shape in detail. Of course, trapeze diamonds are also usually used as a contour, although sometimes they can become the protagonists of the jewel, for a more refined and modern style.

Emerald

Similar to the classic rectangular emerald cut, this cut resembles the Baguette we talked about before, but shorter. The rounded vertices and the greater number of facets make emerald cut diamonds very bright and shiny. Truly beautiful and ideal to be set in a beautiful engagement ring.

Oval

One of the cuts par excellence, which allows for a beautiful brilliance. Unfortunately, this type of cut, widely used in colored stones, is not very popular in diamonds. However, it is certainly worth considering if you are looking for a truly special jewel...

Heart

The most romantic cut of all...and also the most difficult to obtain! Obtained thanks to the skill of diamond craftsmen, the heart cut is definitely sought after, to be used as a pendant. It resembles the drop cut, in the narrowest part of the diamond. We love it!

Princess Cut

Another type of cut that is definitely very popular is the Princess Cut: it is the most recent of the cuts, dating back to the early 80s. Square and precious, it is configured as a decidedly elegant cut, classic but not too much, perfect for solitaires.

Fancy cut? What do the experts say?

Round

Classic, never out of fashion, it allows for maximum brilliance... the round or "brilliant" cut is definitely ideal for obtaining the maximum value, beauty and light from your diamond. It is certainly the most appreciated cut by jewelry and gemology experts . What do you say, could this be Fabrizio 's favorite cut too? Read to the end to find out...

Curious to find out Fabrizio Ferro's favorite cut? Well, if you thought like me that it was the round brilliant one, you were completely wrong. Fabrizio in fact confided in me that his favorite fancy cut is the Marquise: neat and elegant just like him!
