Fabrizio and Gianluca Ferro, IGI gemmologists, have chosen to create a precious novelty from Ferro Gioielli! In fact, this Christmas Ferro Design enhances uniqueness, with fancy diamonds: from here come the Fancy jewels, with special and intriguing shapes and colors.

Fancy Color Diamonds: What Are They?

First of all, it is important to know that Diamonds possess the full spectrum of colors. In fact, they can be found in all shades: brown, yellow, red, purple, blue, green , black...
Although there are so many possibilities, not all of them are classified as "fancy colors" , those fantasy colors that must have a very strong shade.

Diamonds with very saturated colors are extremely rare and are considered a true miracle of nature. Suffice it to say that "fancy" diamonds represent only 0.01% of the total diamonds present in nature.

How is the colored diamond created?

I would like to talk about magic, about how these unique gemstones are the result of some spell. How they are born from the smile of a fairy or the laughter of a magician.
Perhaps, the question is simpler and less imaginative, but after all, chemistry and magic are two similar paths.
Fancy diamonds get their color from atoms dispersed in the chemical structure of the carbon that forms the diamond. An example? Fancy yellows are created from nitrogen atoms.
Without any other substances inside it, the diamond is always transparent.
