TAG Heuer on the roads of the Targa Florio of Sicily!

From 16 to 18 October 2020, TAG Heuer Carrera returned to the track as “Timekeeper” at the Targa Florio, one of the oldest classic regularity car races. And Carrera itself, in 2020, represented the 160th anniversary of the Swiss Maison, with a modern style but with the charm of times gone by. The streets of Sicily were therefore filled with 1970s racing cars, of undoubted beauty, branded TAG Heuer.

The competition

Targa Florio is promoted by Automobile Club d'Italia with Automobile Club Palermo, with the support of ACI Sport and ACI Storico. Among the most important stages, Marsala, the Saline, Castellammare del Golfo and Valderice...and then up to Palermo, to continue on the winding roads of the Madonie, in the middle of the wild and sunny nature of Sicily!
Among the legendary drivers of this all-Italian race, we cannot fail to mention Tazio Nuvolari, Jean-Manuel Fangio, and Jo Siffert, Steve McQueen ’s legendary “tutor” during the filming of the legendary “Le Mans”. The car that has won the most victories at Targa Florio? Porsche!

Carrera Special 160°

This year, which as I was telling you, represents the 160th anniversary of the birth of TAG Heuer, the Swiss Maison has chosen to reinterpret the historic Carrera, declining it in four versions. Two with a steel bracelet and black or blue dial and two others with an alligator leather strap, one with a silver dial and one with an anthracite dial.

The case, for all models, measures 42 mm and is made of steel, with new lugs and finishes, new pushers and a metal crown that contributes to giving an extremely elegant touch to this sports chronograph. A functional and light design, which allows extraordinary readability even at the high speeds of racing car drivers! Inside, Calibre Heuer 02 automatic made entirely in the parent company's factory.
