Winter pearls
February is still a cold month, marked by icy days and the last glimpses of winter. The ideal time to wear pearls, which adapt to the colors and lights of the winter season.
Born from a simple grain of sand, yet precious and with an archaic charm, pearls shine under the cold lights of the winter sun, giving anyone who wears them an unparalleled touch of class.
First of all, it is good to remember that there are different types of pearls , distinguished based on the type of water in which they grow.
Types of pearls
There are Akoya Pearls , of Japanese origin, among the most valuable on the market. They are born in salt water and are therefore very rare. Their characteristic brightness makes them precious and of high value.
Tahitian Pearls , originating from the country of the same name in French Polynesia, are saltwater pearls. Their special characteristic is given by the black and smoky shades they possess. They are truly unique pieces, capable of giving a very particular touch to the jewels in which they are set.
South Sea Pearls are white pearls, born in salt water mainly in Australia and the Indian Ocean. These pearls are said to be the most precious in the world, due to their innate size. They can take on different shapes: round, semi-round, irregular, drop-shaped, button-shaped, baroque, scaramazze or semi-baroque.
Finally, the Freshwater Pearls , characterized by the particular “rice grain” shape, extravagant and able to take on different shades. They are, compared to the previous ones, less rare and precious, although they are beautiful and decidedly versatile in the world of jewelry.
How to wear pearls in winter?
Necklaces
A “Chanel” model, a long pearl necklace, is perfect for winter, to be combined with wool sweaters and multiple layers. Alternatively, opting for a more fitted crew neck can prove to be a winning tactic in the case of more pronounced necklines. Ideal with bright and loaded colors, but also with darker and classier shades.
Earrings
When it comes to pearl earrings, the simplest choice is always the most elegant. In fact, stud earrings are definitely the most suitable to make our face shine in summer and... in winter. They match practically anything!
Bracelets and rings
In winter they are often hidden by long sleeves and gloves, but they can add a touch of class to any outfit.
Pearls also help to warm up the look, giving us a certain something that really stands out in the winter cold. It is better to choose, however, simple and discreet models that do not bother.
