Summer: How to Wear Watches and Jewelry at the Beach!
Don't want to do without your watch at the beach? Here are some useful tips to avoid ruining it
ADVICE FOR HIM
Summer has arrived and with it the heat and the desire for the beach and the sea. We take care of our body, but who thinks about our faithful watch? Yes, because most of the interventions carried out by our watchmaking department are carried out during or after the summer period when the damage is already done. I am talking about water infiltrations, both fresh and salt water. Having penetrated inside the watch, it causes the almost immediate blocking of the functioning with damage, sometimes very invasive even on the dial that requires an expensive intervention. The suggestion is , at the beginning of the season or holidays, to take your watch to your trusted service center where they will do the waterproof test and possibly replace the gaskets of the case back or the buttons/crown. Here, with a minimal expense, our companion will be happy to be able to follow us on any adventure. Below, some information on the waterproof scale and what type of use to make of it. We can read it by rotating the watch since it is printed on the case back: 3 atm (waterproof 30 meters) allows us to wash our hands safely; 5 atm (waterproof 50 meters) allows us to swim; 10 atm (waterproof 100 meters) allows us to dive and immerse ourselves. All this of course after having performed the water resistance test with a positive result. In any case , when you shower, the watch should always be removed , even if it is a professional diver, as there is a temperature range due to the water and the seals may not hold properly.Jewelry can get water and sun... but be careful!
ADVICE FOR HER
Summer brings with it the desire for vacation and carefreeness, often it becomes a time to show off your jewelry. Here are some tips to keep your jewelry always in order and sparkling. For those who wear pearls, the rule is not to wear them when doing makeup, be careful with beauty creams, hair sprays and various foams for the chemical substances inside that over time dull and ruin pearls. It is very useful to rub them at the end of the evening , in order to remove any cosmetics present on the skin, and place them in a soft cloth away from other gems. As for gold and stone jewelry, white gold has reigned supreme in recent years, so they will need to be polished and rhodium-plated to restore the white's ancient splendor. Diamonds will also need to be cleaned and checked. Have them checked by a professional who will assess whether the jewelry is still in perfect condition or whether it needs maintenance, which will certainly be less costly than losing a gem through carelessness. If you decide to do it yourself, just boil water with neutral soap in a saucepan and, with a very soft brush, gently rub through the cracks of the jewel and over the stones, rinse the jewel in water after having immersed it in denatured alcohol. Dry it with a soft cloth or with a hair dryer, at a low temperature. Obviously this treatment should not be performed on jewels with pearls, corals, turquoises, opals and mother-of-pearl. If you put them in a jewelry box, make sure that each one has its own place and do not come into contact with each other to avoid possible scratches.By Ferro Gioielli Website: www.ferrogioielli.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/FerroGioielli
